Business Development Lead


Joining the Willowlee Team will give you new and unique challenges. We believe that each solution should be tailored to the specific job, and there is no one-size-fits-all. The Business Development Lead will be responsible for all aspects of estimating, project management, including startup, construction schedules and completing pre-mobilization documents. The Business Development will work with in-house and external construction personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining integrity of design.

Your Mission

  • Ensuring our existing customers get the level of service and responsiveness they have come to expect.
  • Monitor portals for relevant bid opportunities.
  • Presenting product information to customers. Once you have identified their needs, communicating the Willowlee value and nurturing them into qualified sales opportunities.
  • Conducting outbound calls, emails, etc, to identify and build relationships with potential customers.
  • Research and map out target companies and individuals to personalize outreach and identify relevant decision makers.
  • Conduct effective qualification conversations to determine if prospects meet predefined criteria for a sales opportunity.
  • Documented and kept track of leads in LMN, accurately capturing relevant details.
  • Maintaining a high level of activity through consistent outreach and follow-up efforts to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for lead generation, qualification, and conversion.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between clients and Willowlee site supervisors.
  • In-person consultation meetings with prospective clients to establish needs, wants and expectations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required to prepare estimates.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather additional information for estimating purposes.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to perform quantity takeoffs, cost calculations, and pricing analysis.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include detailed breakdowns of labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Complete final project estimates in a timely manner to customer satisfaction
  • Complete and file the necessary contract information in a project file and create job number for the project; the job number should be reflected in all future correspondence and work files pertaining to the project.
  • Complete all pre-mobilization documentation including obtaining WSIB Clearance Certificates, Certificates of Insurance and Form 1000's
  • Manage the transition of the quote to the project completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and deadlines during the installation process.
  • Complete after action/costing analysis of large-scale projects on completion to refine the bidding process.
  • Identify and report all instances where reported costs exceed construction estimates and provide comprehensive explanation.
  • Apply for substantial completion and total completion of the project, as soon as is practically possible, for each project as they progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • You have previous experience in a similar outbound Business Development or sales role in a high-volume environment.
  • You're proficient in a CRM software and other sales productivity tools; experience with LMN is an asset.
  • You're a relationship builder and can build rapport and trust with potential and existing customers quickly.
  • You're coachable with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • You're adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability and on-the-spot problem-solving.
  • Completion of post-secondary degree or technical training in a relevant field
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator or similar role in the construction industry
  • 2+ years' experience in landscape estimation.
  • Proficiency in the use of general computer software including Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Projects; Work Management Systems, and project management software.
  • Ability to manage around tight deadlines and still get the details right.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Must possess a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License with clean abstract.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • The hours for this position are between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. With a target of 45 hours per week.
  • Extended periods of computer work.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at appropriate times.
  • This job may require travel to and from sites on a regular basis.
