As a Business Improvement Strategist, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, process improvements, and financial analysis within the Parks Infrastructure and Capital Infrastructure portfolios, encompassing both operational and capital functions. You will also be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, developing policies, guidelines, strategies, and providing recommendations to optimize decision-making processes, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure effective resource allocation. Primary duties include:

  • Gather and analyze data, develop policies, guidelines, strategies, and provide recommendations to optimize decision-making processes, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Support strategic continuous improvement projects to streamline processes, reduce errors, and create efficiencies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor procedures and tools such as dashboards, SharePoint sites, and databases to support process improvement efforts.
  • Research new technologies at how it can improve process and reduce gaps within Capital Infrastructure or Parks Infrastructure teams.
  • Conduct research and compile strategic planning inputs.
  • Conduct data gathering, analysis, and generate recommendations or reports related to finance and funding topics. Implement identified recommendations to optimize financial management and funding allocation. 
  • Prepare summary reports and presentations for senior management and committees of Council.

 
 
Qualifications 

  • A degree in Business, Management, Economics, Commerce, Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in areas such as strategic and financial planning, project management, and Business Improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required.
  • Experience with facilitation, data analysis, business analysis, public policy and working knowledge of various analysis methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in business analytics, performance metrics and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in management consulting and Lean Black Belt is considered an asset. 
  • Experience working in a municipal environment or related will be considered an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the following types of digital tools - Business Intelligence, GIS, Infrastructure Asset Management, databases, MS Project, is considered an asset.
  • Experience with developing strategies and writing content and reports for senior leadership.
  • Success in this position requires the following competencies: the ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team setting, demonstrated problem solving skills and a high attention to detail, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, a strong customer focus, business and political acumen, and the ability to manage the implementation of business and strategic concepts.

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
