Nova Scotia Works Centres are a one-stop job search and career advice resource, helping Nova Scotians reach their employment goals.

Full Time: 37.5 hours a week (Case Manager 60%/ Employer Engagement Specialist 40% blended role)

The hours are mainly 8:30-4:30, Monday -Friday. There may be times that you will work outside of these hours.

Primary Location: Lunenburg County.

Employer Engagement Role:

Employer Engagement Specialists cultivate relationships with employers in their regions. They support employers with their unique human resource needs, such as recruitment, retention, the creation of a diverse workforce and keeping up with the changing needs of the labour market.

As an Employer Engagement Specialist each day will be different, you may be meeting with employers in person, on site or by telephone. Employer Engagement Specialists function as a liaison between employers, the government of Nova Scotia and other Nova Scotia Works centers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide everyday assistance to employers regarding human resource needs such as recruitment and service access needs.
  • Promote and facilitate access to employer resource programs including Federal and Provincial funding programs.
  • Work closely with Nova Scotia Works staff to bridge employer needs with job seekers and supports.
  • Partner with other community services to promote, understand and support economic growth.
  • Promote and develop diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace along with other provincial service groups.

Case Manager Role

Case Managers are responsible for assessing an individual’s employment/career needs and identifying those individuals suitable for case management. Case Managers work with these individuals in a collaborative, client driven process to develop a Return-to-Work Action Plan (RTWAP). The actions of a Case Manager address the specific needs of the client as documented in their goals. The Case Manager supports accountability by organizing service delivery that is appropriate, coordinated, and timely to address client needs and desired outcomes.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct client needs assessment.
  • Manage a caseload, adhering to the database management requirements of the LaMPSS system for case management.
  • Assist Individuals with establishing career goals, job search, job maintenance, skill enhancement, education plans.
  • Facilitate Job Matching services and opportunities.
  • Identify strengths and barriers to employment and develop a Return-to-Work Action Plan (RTWAP) to address barriers.
  • Maintain the NSW Digital Channel

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Attributes

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good knowledge of community organizations and referral agencies for employers and job seekers.
  • Adherence to inclusionary practice, ethical decision making, respect for diversity and confidentiality.
  • Understanding of Provincial and Federal labour standard codes
  • Strong skills in marketing, promotion, and public relations
  • Strong computer skills and database management, ability to access and effectively use information and communications technology; conduct research.
  • Solid understanding of Labour Market Information (LMI) and its applications.
  • Ability to build relationships and processes with other Career Practitioner and Employer Focused roles.
  • Ensure support for job seekers and employer clients to encourage positive outcomes for Nova Scotia Works clients.
  • Commitment to professional development and career self-management.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Marketing, Business Development, Sociology, Psychology, or other relevant degrees.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:

  • A completed related 2-year diploma along with two (2) years of related experience.
  • Six (6) years of related experience.

*Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

  • CCDP certification preferred or willingness to achieve with supports.

Please note: If you are the successful candidate and do not hold a Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) designation, you will have the opportunity to enroll in this program and obtain your designation while you work.

  • Valid NS Driver’s License and access to a vehicle with current insurance

Salary Range: $40,950 - $56,550
