Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)
NEW PENTICTON BRANCH - On Side is opening a new branch in Penticton to service the South Okanagan area and south. This position will initially report to the Kelowna branch and may require work throughout the Okanagan during the transition period
Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.
Responsible for…
The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:
· Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
· Framing
· Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
· Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
· Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
· Insulation and vapour barrier installation
· Being awesome, in general!
· Installation
· Doors
· Trim, moldings, and baseboards
· Hardware installation
· Cabinetry
What you bring
The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:
· Experience working in construction environments
· Tools and the skills to use them
· Strong people and communication skills
· Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
· A safety mindset
· Valid drivers license
· Ability to pass a criminal record check
· Ability to communicate in English
Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:
· Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
· IICRC certification (restoration focus)
· WHMIS
· First Aid
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Salary: $27.00-$35.00 per hour

- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours.
- Are you comfortable driving a cube van/fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets?

Experience:
- home renovation: 1 year (preferred)
- brush and roller painting: 1 year (preferred)
- installing and repairing cabinets: 1 year (preferred)
- ceiling installation (knockdown and texturing): 1 year (preferred)
- drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing: 1 year (preferred)
- trim carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
- installation (hardware, doors, trim, moulding, baseboards: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Canadian Driver's License (required)
