Shelmerdine exists to create a positive difference in people’s lives. Hopefully, you have heard of us and have been to our store. Shelmerdine Garden Center was established in 1937 and is widely regarded as the one of most reputable/leading garden centers in Canada. We are a fast paced, exciting, and fun organization - located in beautiful Headingley!
THE JOB
- You will work closely with customers greeting them as they enter the store, engaging with them as they go through the cashier checkout, and thanking them on their way out of the store.
- You will need to be able to lift and carry some heavy objects, manage stairs, and 7-8 hour shifts on your feet.
- You will be using a computer with point of sale software and a pin pad to process transactions.
- There is no public transportation to our location, so your own vehicle is a necessity.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience in retail or the service industry is preferred.
- You must have a vehicle or means of transportation to Headingley, as there is no local bus service to our location.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English.
- Positive and outgoing – you interact in a socially engaging manner.
- You're a quick learner on the computer.
- You are friendly by nature and enjoy being around people.
- You are punctual and flexible with scheduling to the needs of the business, including weekends and evenings.
- You have a natural willingness to learn about products and promotional offers throughout the store.
- You have a strong attention to detail and are not afraid of computer use.
