Full-Time Non-Union Term Position

(End Date December 31, 2024)


The Program Financial and Data Analyst is a confidential and trusted professional who, under minimal supervision, provides expert financial assistance and support relative to the development and management of Education Services budget totaling 240 million. This position also provides reporting and analytics throughout the organization on educational related data.


As a part of both the Education Services and Finance Services teams the Program Financial and Data Analyst deals with monitoring revenue and expenditures budgets, reconciling staffing allocations, budget forecasting, data analysis, as well as liaising with outside entities on funding opportunities. The position is also tasked with supporting the collection, organization, analysis and reporting for the Director of School Administration in a wide variety education related matters. This position reports directly to the Director of Programs and Student Services and the Director of School Administration.


Qualifications:

  • Either CPA certification (or equivalent) and a minimum of two years of successful business experience working within a financial environment applying the knowledge of accepted accounting and budgeting procedures; OR
  • 12 academic graduate and post-secondary education (business related) and a minimum of five years of successful business experience working within a financial environment applying the knowledge of accepted accounting and budgeting procedures and practices

Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of and significant experience in effectively using SAP (or comparable large computerized accounting system(s), complex spreadsheets in Excel (i.e. use of pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas, conditional formatting, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, presentations, internet, and Outlook (e-mail)
  • Detailed knowledge of large complex payroll environments
  • Experience reading, understanding, organizing and effectively reporting on a variety of data sources (in addition to financial)
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed decision-making and analytical problem solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • The ability to work independently while prioritizing own workload
  • Diplomacy and discretion in dealing with personnel and the general public
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to share technology competencies with others

Other Assets:

  • Experience working in a public education environment
  • Experience working with senior staff
  • Experience with department business management
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
