Milestone Foster Homes is licensed by the Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services. Our team of professional caregivers provides residential, treatment foster care to children ages 0-18 who are in the care of various child welfare agencies in Ontario. Our 110+ foster homes are located across the GTA. Milestone is currently in need of Child and Youth Care Practitioners to support our clients within our treatment foster homes.
Positions Available:
Child and Youth Care Practitioners to provide short/long term contracts. Contracts are individual and will vary in hours anywhere from 2-4 weekly per client, with occasional requests for emergency support (i.e. support with hospital stays). We are seeking 6 CYC Independent Contractors for the Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa. Scarborough area; 4 positions in the Peel region; 2 positions in the Hamilton/Burlington area.

As a Child and Youth Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to children and Youth facing various challenges. Your role will involve implementing therapeutic interventions based on outlined goals from the case management team. Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional support and guidance to children and Youth, helping them navigate through difficult situations and emotions.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive behavior and healthy relationships.
- Document and maintain accurate records of client progress monthly, reporting incidents, and interventions.
- Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in Child and Youth Care, incorporating them into your work.
- Work with clients with complex needs utilizing a trauma/neuro divergent informed approach.
- Work collaboratively within a team to meet the needs of the clients.
- Carries out the Agency’s policies and procedures as they relate to the safety and well-being of children and Youth in care.
- Attend trainings as required.
- Engages in the utilization and application of agency/ministry approved physical intervention techniques (UMAB) when required.
- Maintain confidentiality standards at all times during your association at Milestone and thereafter-
- To conduct your duties with professionalism at all times including maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients.
- To maintain expected trainings and complete paperwork requirements in a timely manner.
- To check and respond to emails, texts or phone calls from Milestone within 24 hours.
What do you need to apply:
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current CPIC/VSS and child welfare check.
- Up to date First aid and CPR
- Working knowledge of child welfare system and related experience.
- Knowledge of Ontario's Quality Standards Framework and the CYFSA is a strong asset.
- Experience and Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, FASD, ASD, Children’s Mental Health and behavior management techniques is a strong asset.
- Previous experience working with children and Youth in a similar capacity is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, youth, and their families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Excellent problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.
Working Conditions:
- You will be providing 1:1 support in the community or foster home.

- Paid Mileage at a rate of .60 cents per km when client in your vehicle
