Child and Youth Counsellor

RockHaven Children’s Services Inc. is a Treatment Foster Care agency looking for a highly skilled and qualified Child and Youth Counsellor to join our team.

RockHaven Treatment Foster Care (TFC) provides a safe, stable and nurturing home environment for foster children who have emotional or behavioral needs. We are a family-based residential treatment program that allows the child to experience healthy parent-to-child relationships in an environment that promotes growth and healing.

Job Description:

You will work with the youth in our program, in the client’s home or in the community to assist them in meeting their treatment goals.

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:

• · Diploma in Child and Youth Counsellor or an equivalent Diploma or Degree
• · Strong verbal and written communication skills
• · Completing youth daily logs and incident reports as required
• · Ability to carry out individual youth programming
• · Experience in managing challenging and behavioral youth
• · Effective communication with your supervisor and co-workers
• · Strong ability to build a supportive working relationship with both staff and Youth
• · Teaching youth life skills
• · NVCI an asset
• · CPR/First Aid an asset

Requirements:

• · Experience working with Autism
• · Current Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• · Child Welfare Record Check
• · Valid Class G driver’s licence
• · Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• · Proof of vehicle insurance with 2 million liability

This position is days/evenings/weekends, 30-40 hrs per week.

Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
