Job Title: Child and Youth Worker (Full Time/ Part Time position available)

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Services Manager and Child and Youth Team Lead, the Child/Youth Outreach Worker will be responsible for contributing to the collaborative development, coordination and successful delivery of a suite of programs/services focused towards children (5-12 years of age) and Youth (13+ years of age), including but not limited to:
o After School Program
o Spring Break Program
o Summer Program
o One-on-one/ Group Based Support Services in school District 60*
QUALIFICATIONS:
Social Services Worker Diploma (SSWD), Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or equivalent, and/or a minimum of three (3) years of experience delivering direct client-focused support services and programming.
Knowledge and understanding of child development, Child Care Licensing Regulations, and human services work;
Experience working within a non-profit organization;
Ability to provide respectful, courteous and professional services based upon client centered approaches, paying particular attention to the client's barriers and identified needs;
Experience with group facilitation an asset;
Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with community entities and partner organizations to expand avenues of support for clients accessing our services;
Strong problem solving skills;
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
Model healthy lifestyle choices, behaviors and attitudes and facilitate positive peer interaction amongst group-focused program participants;
Valid Driver’s license (Class 4 an asset), and reliable vehicle;
First Aid Certification (an asset)
Summary of Duties:
· Participate in the collaborative coordination of the day to day operation of the department and associated programs/services for children & youth;
· Ensure compliance with Child Care Licensing regulations, Health Code Regulations, established Friendship Centre Policy & Procedures, and that program delivery and outcomes are in line with funding contracts;
· Contribute to development of multi-faceted curriculum with an overall focus on ensuring a balance of activities to impact Physical, Intellectual, Emotional & Spiritual wellness.
· Foster the establishment of a network of keys supports and the development of additional resources and tools to further impact positive healthy child, youth and family development;
· Link families to other resources available within suite of programs offered at the Centre and within the community, as identified;
· Participate in Team Meetings with key staff within the schools to coordinate case plan management and identify specific supports for children/youth referred for one-on-one services.
Case management & Data Maintenance
Compile relative statistical data for reporting purposes;
Ensure proper storage and maintenance of case files as per confidentiality protocols.
Submit and complete monthly program data to supervisor for review and amalgamation into reports for funders.
Assist with evaluating program outcomes/results.
Community & Public Relations
Represent/ promote a positive and professional image of the Fort St. John Friendship Society at relevant community partner and inter-agency meetings, as determined;
Other Duties
Maintain required certifications / training & attend additional training, as identified and/or requested;
Attend all Staff Meetings;
Assist with the coordination and delivery of other annual Friendship Centre events/ functions such as: Soup n’ Bannock Fridays, Membership Family Halloween Party, Membership Family Christmas Party, and Youth-focused Workshops/Presentations.
