This position requires the completion of Early Childcare Educator level 3. If applicable, this position requires a minimum of 4-years continuous sobriety.
Duties & Responsibilities
A. ADMINISTRATION DUTIES
- *Accurate and secure file management, including but not limited to, daily charting, medication administration and/or assistance, and progress notes in the client management software program. *Complete and file incident reports for submission to the appropriate parties, including, but not limited to, the child’s parent/ guardian, Childcare Infant Lead, Clinical Director, and/or Social Worker. *Complete a Daily Communication Book that informs parents about their child’s daily childcare experience, including, but not limited to, feeding, diaper changes, sleep, activities and play, and general mood. Support parents to review and contribute to the Daily Communication Book. *Develop an individual yearly learning plan and goals, which will be reviewed and supported during the yearly formal evaluation. *Print out curriculum and ensure that staff is presenting the materials accurately. *Ensure that Hi Mama is up to date and accurate. *Hiring along with Human resources, and scheduling duties. *Facilitate staff meetings. *Cleaning schedules and procedures. *Grant Writing and Submitting.
B. CLIENT RELATIONS
- *Engage in respectful, positive interaction with clients and their children to ensure their physical, social-emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural needs are met. *Provide support and mentoring for mothers and their child(ren). *Support and model positive communication. *Support the implementation of childcare curricula that support and promote the physical, cognitive, social-emotional development of children. *Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members to support the child’s learning experiences inside and outside childcare hours. *Observe children for signs of potential health, developmental, learning, or behavioural problems and communicate and/or prepare reports for parents, guardians and/or Childcare Lead. *Ensure children’s nutritional needs are met through regular feeding and proper preparation and storage of all foods, including formula, milk, breast-milk, and solids. *Ensure children’s hygiene needs are maintained through regular diaper changes, thorough cleansing, and proper diaper disposal. *Engage children in activities by telling stories, singing songs, infant massage, and providing a range of sensory stimuli, including spending time outside to allow for exposure to fresh air and sunshine, weather permitting. *Arrange rooms or furniture for feeding, play, and rest periods, ensuring that all children are safe during periods free movement. *Attend childcare staff meetings to discuss child(ren)’s and parents progress and/or concerns you may have. *Facilitate themes and activities that fit with the curriculum.
C. HEALTH AND SAFETY
- *Monitor clients to ensure they are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If there are concerns, management is to be immediately advised. *Ensure clients and other staff adhere to program policies and procedures related to Health and Safety. *Maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
D. OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED
1. Other duties as required.
Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $20.00 - $23.00/hour.
