Job Description


Toronto’s Planning practice is seeking an Urban Planner to join their team. The role will be involved in supporting other planners on policy and Land Development related assignments, assisting in obtaining development approvals, due diligence reports, highest and best use analyses, and consulting with a range of stakeholders.

This role sits within the Global Architecture & Urbanism Division which combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology.  

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist within a range of policy and land use planning projects
  • Conduct research, highest and best use reviews, and planning policy analysis
  • Coordinate and input on site plans, master plans and municipal and regional planning strategies
  • Coordinate and prepare planning applications, planning reports, and other documents in order to secure approvals through the development process
  • Public consultation, including creation and delivery of presentations for public meetings, open houses and workshops
  • Prepare proposals and contracts for public and private sector clients
  • Support other planners and designers

Qualifications


Qualifications and Experience:

  • University or College Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or equivalent
  • Working towards membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)
  • 0-3 years of relevant planning experience in Land Development and land use planning
  • Understanding of the planning and development processes in Ontario
  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver with high attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work individually or in a team environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • User functionality in MS Office products. Knowledge of GIS, CAD, Illustrator, SketchUp, or similar programs would be an asset
  • Ability to drive is considered an asset
