Job Summary:
Bay Park Children's Centre is seeking an individual to support the staff, children, and families of our centre. The successful candidate will work primarily with the Infant program to help maintain ratios as well as supporting the whole centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in the daycare
· Maintain classroom management and ensure a positive and inclusive atmosphere
· Supervise children during playtime, meals, and rest periods
· Assist with behaviour management and discipline when necessary
· Perform kitchen tasks such as providing snack and washing dishes.
· Demonstrate professional work attitude and positive work ethic while on the job and in the community.
· Participate in seminars, workshops and training including recertification of CPR/First Aid.
· Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children
· Ability to engage and interact with children of different ages and backgrounds
Skill Requirements:
· Ability to lift/carry children and lift/carry/move moderately heavy items.
· Ability to work flexible hours.
· Maintain confidentiality of all information related to children, parents, staff, students and volunteers.
· Communicate effectively written and oral with children, parents, staff and Board members.
· Ability to use professional judgment on a daily basis and work within the guidelines and regulations established by various Acts, policies and procedures that govern the Childcare and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
Qualifications:
· Previous experience working with children in a daycare, babysitting, or nannying setting
· Knowledge of child development principles and practices
· Up-to-date Infant & Child CPR-C and First Aid Certification
· Current negative Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
· Food Handler's certification is an asset.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $16.55-$19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
