JOB DESCRIPTION
CLERICAL SUPPORT - CASUAL, ON-CALL
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager or designate, this position
provides Clerical Support to numerous City departments, including the Finance, Community Services and
Development Services Departments of the City.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:
1. Typing or keyboarding skills of 60 wpm or a demonstrated ability to perform accurate data entry and
word processing functions to an equivalent level.
2. Completion of Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and
experience.
3. Competency in computer use and programs, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
1. Completion of an Applied Business Technology or Office Administration certificate program.
2. The successful applicant will have the ability to effectively interact and maintain harmonious
relationships with the public and other staff members while completing the required duties in a safe
manner following established procedures.
KEY DUTIES PERFORMED:
COMMUNITY SERVICES • Performs office-related tasks including but not limited to: program
registration, program records management, photocopying, scheduling of
facility use and preparation of arena rental spreadsheet used for billing
purposes, minute taking, word-processing, spread sheeting and desktop
publishing.

- Provides service to the public regarding Airport, Regulatory Services and

FINANCE • Provides front-line receptionist services and service to the public with
regard to property taxes, utilities accounts, accounts receivable, cash
receipting, business licenses, accounts payable, cemeteries, etc., whether
in person or by other means.
- Prepares correspondence and processes billings or payments as required.
- Performs cashier functions, including but not limited to processing all
reconciliation of cash receipts, preparation of daily bank deposits.
- Responds to general inquiries from the public whether made in person or
necessary.
- Supports Utilities Clerk, Accounts Payable/Cemeteries Clerk, Payroll Clerk
PUBLIC WORKS • Performs office-related tasks including but not limited to: taking
telephone messages, computer data entry, time sheet completion, and
photocopying.
- Assists with records maintenance for all Public Works functions, e.g.
street sweeping, snow removal, gravel, grading and rented equipment
hours.
- Records changes for municipal utility map updating.
- Prepares correspondence or undertakes other typing as required.
- Prepares garbage container reports.
STORES • Place purchase orders & monitor them with vendors to maintain on-time
delivery.
- Receive orders ensuring proper product is received and quantities are
