Human Resource Management:
- Manage recruitment, training and retention of staff
- Deal with ongoing staff concerns (including janitorial)
- Maintain staff scheduling for adequate coverage for positions needed
- Implement measure to improve staff efficiencies whenever possible
- Develop and maintain EMC physician and staff policy manual
- Develop and maintain staff remuneration and evaluation system
- Assist in patient flow in clinic where needed (MOA, phones, reception, ushering etc.)
- Show initiative and observe if there are other areas and/or functions that need assistance and provide it if able
- Sort out the physical arrangement, furniture and function in the clinic
Information Technology Management:
- Manage maintenance and issues with respect to the computer network system (hardware problems and EMR issues)
- Liaise with EMR vendor in relation to clinic requirements and provide EMR training to current and new clinic staff
Privacy Officer
- Administrator of netcare access and act as the clinic Privacy Officer
- Co-ordinates and facilitates all clinic privacy compliance activities
- Revises the privacy program as necessary to comply with changes in the law, regulations, professional ethics and accreditation requirements
- Oversees delivery of privacy training and orientation to all employees, volunteers, medical and professional staff, contractors and other appropriate third parties
- Performs privacy risk assessment and conducts ongoing compliance monitoring activities
- Administers and process for receiving, documenting, tracking and investigating privacy related complaints
- Identifies privacy compliance issues and acts as the main point of contact in dealings with clinic physicians and staff, third parties, Alberta Medical Association, Netcare, OIPC researchers, regulatory bodies or the police regarding privacy and security policies, procedures or incidents
- Acts as the liaison with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) of Alberta
External Relations
- Liaise with the PCN (Primary Care Network) with respect to AIM (Access Improvement Measures), patient paneling and other measures to improve clinic outcomes and efficiencies
- Orient, initiate and host new physicians, students and resident to Edson Medical Centre
- Liaise with RPAP re student doctor shadowing and accommodation
- Maintain professional association with the Clinic Managers Association of Alberta
Operational Management
- Manage office operations including opening/closing of office, ensuring office security (building security system) and deal with equipment and building repair issues
- Maintain cleanliness of workstation
Qualifications: (minimum)
- Post-secondary training in some aspect of heath care, business administration would be an asset
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, ability to work independently
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Must process a positive attitude, ability to work in a team-based environment
- Demonstrate communication, problem solving and organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, with multiple and changing priorities
- Perfectly fluent in English (verbal, reading and written skills)
- Background in medical office an asset
