The Collaborative Grant Writer position is intended to advance the readiness of Collaborative Grant applications within the region, decrease the administration related to Collaborative Grant-writing, and ultimately meet the goal of strategically leveraging more funding into our region.
Collaborative grant writing is defined as: working with relevant regional and local organizations, governments and partners to: identify, scope, facilitate, and write grant applications for funding opportunities that align with regional priorities as identified in the SNBSC regional plan.

This is a pilot project, starting as a 1 yr contract position. The position beyond this time is dependent on success and funding.
Description:
The Collaborative Grant Writer reports directly to the Community Coordinator at the Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission. The Collaborative Grant Writer is responsible for the development of a Collaborative Grant System, identifying and connecting funding opportunities to collaborative regional/local projects that advance the SNBSC strategic plan, and developing of Collaborative Grant projects that respond to current opportunities and/or are ‘shovel ready’ opportunities.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Understand the strategic priorities of the region as described in the SNBSC strategic plan
- Foster relationships with regional municipalities, rural district, and with not-for-profit groups
- Understand and catalogue funding opportunities (current, upcoming, provincial, federal, foundations, etc.)
- - Determine existing funding opportunities available for capital asset projects
- - Determine existing funding opportunities available for program-based projects
- Understand and capture the requirements of funders (most often outlined in Applicant Guides).
- Design checklists and protocols:
- - for the Collaborative Grant process
- - for how municipalities or not-for-profits could develop and participate in Collaborative Grants
- - Assist in developing communications for the Collaborative Grant process and protocols
- Understand and capture the requirements of regional partners:
- - Create template for “tombstone data” for organizations to fill out – includes financial capacity, human resource capacity, team experience, mission/vision statement of organization or project
- Develop Collaborative Grant projects that respond to current and/or ‘shovel-ready’ funding opportunities:
- - Creating a timeline and work plan to complete grant applications
- - Identify X funding avenues for municipalities to apply for Y capital asset projects
- - Identify X funding avenues for not-for-profit organizations to apply for Y program related projects
