OTR TIRE TECHNICIAN

Kal Tire is looking for an OTR Tire Technician to work on-site at a client location just east of Port Dover, ON. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of tire and related service and repair for OTR tires while adhering to Kal Tire & our clients’ work and safety standards. This opportunity has a set schedule of: 7am-5pm Monday-Friday with after hours rotation which includes evening and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform tire service on customer equipment.
• Conduct appropriate maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Respond to after-hours calls on a rotation basis
• Dismount and mount tires for a variety of vehicles.
• Ensure that all tires are mounted safely and according to load requirements.
• Perform equipment checks and calibrations.
• Install and remove wheels from multiple types of vehicle.
• Balance light vehicle tire and rim assembly.
• Perform repairs to tires and tubes.
• Operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
• Follow on-site customer safety guidelines.

Related Experience

• At least two years of related experience with direct experience as a tire fitter preferred.
• OTR service training and certifications desired, basic tire fitting skills.
• Experience operating and maintaining tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
• Experience working in an environment where safety procedures are a key part of daily operations.

Skills Required

• Physically perform the duties of an OTR Tire Technician safely.
• Obtain and maintain all applicable licenses, certificates as required to perform the duties as required to work at mine sites.
• Perform mechanically related tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.
• self-starter and willing to take the initiative, solve problems, be able and willing to work without direct supervision, and be willing to attend appropriate training sessions.
• Understand tire failure causes and analysis.
• Good communication skills and ability to express yourself well both verbally and in writing.

Special Requirements (preferred, with assistance provided)

• Valid DZ driver’s license
• Experience driving a manual vehicle with a power lift gate.
• Wheel installers license
