- Assist senior technicians in routing, pulling and installing copper and fiber cabling
- Assist senior technicians in site surveys to determine the best routing for network cabling installation
- Assist senior technicians with terminating, testing and labeling installed network cabling
- Assist senior technicians with testing and troubleshooting network cabling
- Install/mount network cabling accessories and equipment
- Drill holes in walls and flooring for cable routing and network equipment
- Install piping and conduit for network cabling installation
- Carry material and equipment to and from site/job
- Drive short and long term distances to and from site/job
- - - QUALIFICATIONS - - -
- Previous experience as a Telecommunications technician or the construction field is not required but an asset
- Proficient in using hand tools is not required but an asset
- Knowledge of low voltage network cabling and regulations is not required but an asset
- Speak and understand English
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Work well with others and independently, without supervision
- Able to take instruction well
- Must be able to work within a strict set of policies and procedures (especially when it comes to Health and Safety!)
- Comfortable with ladders and working at heights on lifts and top of buildings/ceilings
- Desire and positive attitude to learning new skills
- Enjoy new challenges in the workplace
- Physically capable of lifting 45lbs or more and physically fit enough to perform laborious work
- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays occasionally
- Valid license (G class in Canada), with a good driving record
- Able to work anywhere from 6:00am to 6:00pm on most days
- Able and willing to work out of town on most (if not all) days
- Looking for long-term and secure work and willing to grow within the job position
