On July 27, 2023, TC Energy announced the intention to spin off our Liquids Pipelines business and separate into two independent, investment-grade, publicly listed companies - TC Energy and South Bow. Please note that all hires will continue to be formally employed by a TC Energy employing entity until the separation is complete.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Communications Manager within the External Relations function, you will help create and execute comprehensive communication strategies, with a focus on internal messaging, that align with the company's objectives and brand identity.

The candidate demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and willingness to learn while going beyond the ask by connecting dots across various teams, corporate initiatives and announcements. What You'll Do

• Play a key role in developing a message library and corporate collateral.
• Create and distribute press releases, media kits, newsletters, and other communication materials.
• Write and edit executive speaking notes for high-profile external events including sponsorships, panels, and keynote presentations.
• Serve as a company spokesperson in Canada for media inquiries.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders, primarily in Canada.
• Media monitoring and reporting as required.
• Coaching and preparing subject matter experts for media opportunities.
• Develop communications, including content for internal audiences as well as the website, social media, and email campaigns.
• Coordinate with different departments to ensure consistency in the company's public messages.
• Serve on crisis communication team.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communication strategies and practices.
• Collaborate with various internal teams to direct development of the Report on Sustainability.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
• A minimum of 8 years' experience in external-facing communications, public affairs or government relations
• Demonstrated experience in supporting corporate and/or business functions as a communications specialist with writing/project samples
• Ability to manage crises and maintain composure under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

• Energy industry and investor relations or financial communications experience
• Experience working in Communications for large, geographically extensive business
• Experience in social media, media relations, strategy and messaging development and implementation
• Project management expertise for multiple work streams and competing priorities
• Experience in crisis management and emergency response
• Experience working with senior leaders
• Results-oriented and effective communicator - with high-caliber written and oral communications skills
• Ability to connect with people - establishing and maintaining effective, positive relationships at all levels of the organization
• Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing environment
• Ability to deal with emerging and unpredictable events in a time sensitive and constructive manner
• Experience with social media, content management systems, databases and tools, including news release dissemination platforms would also be an asset

This position requires candidates to:

• Primary business hours are required, some evening and weekend work will be required; in addition to participating in an on-call emergency response rotation

• Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up 10% of work schedule)
