Position Overview: Project Coordinator – Quesnel CAT

Community Action Teams

In partnership with the Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction’s Overdose Emergency Response Centre (OERC), the Community Action Initiative (CAI) is funding Community Action Teams (CATs) in communities hardest hit by the overdose crisis across the province.

The Quesnel CAT membership consists of representatives from various health and social service organizations and PEERS/ people with lived experience (PWLE) in substance use. The Quesnel CAT project oversees Northern Peer Connections which is a mobile harm reduction van that aims to reach at risk individuals in the community of Quesnel and provide an array of harm reduction and overdose prevention services. The Project Coordinator will assist the CAT membership meet the goals of the project and will oversee all administrative aspects. Ideally, the successful candidate will be a compassionate individual who identifies as a self-starter.

This position is 10 hours per week @ $25.00 per hour.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Strong organizational ability and self

· Experience working with multiple service providers and PWLLE in community and providing health and harm reduction programming in the areas of substance use.

· Knowledge of local Indigenous communities; commitment to equity, building cultural connections, cultural awareness and humility.

· Knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices.

· Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbally and in writing.

· Demonstrated group and meeting facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, and leadership ability.

Responsibilities:

· Oversight of project funds and invoices – includes monthly budget review and providing updates to CAT membership

· Supporting staff/volunteers with Northern Peer Connections

· Maintaining data on Northern Peer Connections and the CAT for funding and grant purposes

· Writing of grant application for next funding cycle; completing all reporting requirements

· Chairing, taking minutes and attendance at bi-weekly CAT meetings

· Ongoing support and mentorship with peers

· Coordinate peer employment opportunities including training for employment

· Plan and organize training and capacity building opportunities for peers and service providers

· Plan and organize strategic planning and follow up activities

· Responding to questions from members of the public or CAT about various issues related to CAT projects or initiatives

· Attending additional meetings on CAT-related matters when requested

· Attend monthly provincial CAT meetings

· Coordinating public awareness around project (advertising/articles)

· Administration of peer payment for meetings, mobile work and initiatives

· Planning or execution of Overdose Awareness Week or any other education or awareness events

· Additional work as required to collaborate on overdose prevention initiatives in the community

· Shopping for supplies for Northern Peer Connections

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Salary: $28.00 per hour
