We are looking to hire one person to cover our permanent part-time 7.5-hour Sunday morning shift every week [0800 to 1530 hours]. Due to orientation, training and job shadowing, we would like to hire by 3 March 2024. Our daughter’s mental/physical health and personal support requirements mean this position is limited to fit, non-smoking, applicants only resident in or near Lethbridge, Alberta.
Our starting pay is $20.00/hour [$150 per week] with a raise to $22.00 [$165 per week] once training is complete.
We staff around the clock 365/7/24. We need an energetic, reliable person with some experience caring for others. We offer good paying part-time work with just one client, in a nice, scent-free and safe home. Extra, relief shifts are sometimes available. Reliability is an essential requirement. Experience as a Community Disability Support worker is desired.
You will have a meaningful impact on the quality of life of our daughter and the rest of her family. You would be joining our team that assists in caring for our developmentally disabled daughter who lives with us in Mountain Heights.
Since 2006, we have been funded under the Family Managed Services (FMS) provisions of the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Alberta. We arrange and pay for all additional training required including your time. Current team members tell us that the work environment is very agreeable. One of our staff members has been with us for nearly 20 years. Further, meals and beverages are provided free while on shift.
Our daughter is a slightly built, frail 49-year-old who has been developmentally delayed from birth. She walks a bit often using a walker in the house. For longer distances outside she needs her wheelchair. Our daughter’s developmental age is often like that of a young child and the adults in her life need to modify their treatment and expectations of her to reflect her development. She likes to go on family trips, go for “walks” in her wheelchair and, sometimes, go shopping. Our daughter has a very irregular sleeping pattern. She sometimes sleeps a few hours during the night shift. Sometimes she is up all night.
As a Community Disability Support Worker/ Caregiver/ Companion you will be a valued member of our team and have the responsibility to support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies that will assist our daughter (a person with disabilities) to pursue and fulfill her goals and objectives in order to live in the community as independently as possible in accordance with her own beliefs, desires and choices. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting her with: medication administration, personal care, a few related light household chores, getting to and participating in recreation and leisure activities, developing living skills, getting to appointments and attending social events. A complete job description is available on request.
Should you wish to take a position with our team, a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check will be required [we will reimburse you for it]. You are encouraged to contact us if you would like additional information or to set up an initial meeting. Call or Text to Mavis at 403-315-2646.
