Bechtel is Metrolinx’s Delivery Partner (DP) for the new Ontario Line subway and part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT) overseeing the delivery of this new transformational transit project for the Greater Toronto Area. The multi-billion-dollar project includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 underground and elevated stations, along a 15 km alignment, with multiple public/private partnership contractors and several advance works contractors. 
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Lead supports the IPT’s Community Engagement and communications obligations for to the Elevated Guideway and Stations including the related advance works and Don Valley Crossings. Reporting to the DP’s Community Engagement Senior Manager the Lead will be the primary point of contact with the contractors and will advise on, monitor, and track contractor compliance with their communications and engagement contractual obligations. The Lead will also be a key resource for the planning and delivery of the Ontario Line Community Engagement program. 
Responsibilities
-Collaborate with the IPT Delivery, Environmental and Traffic teams to include community requirements in all phases of construction.
-Attend regular construction update meetings to keep informed about the construction schedule and progress and to update the Community Engagement construction lookahead tracker.
-Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate/manage key community interfaces and risks.
-As the primary point of contact with the contractor’s Community Engagement and communications team, coordinate IPT review of contractor submittals, community notices and other Community Engagement and communications materials
-Provide advice to Metrolinx and the contractor on, and track contractor compliance with, the contractor’s Community Engagement and communications obligations.
-Participate in site coordination meetings with the IPT team, contractor, and stakeholders to review compliance with community requirements.
-Integrate Elevated Guideway and Stations Community Engagement and communications activities with related advance works and Don Valley Crossings.
-When requested, draft public notices and communications materials for community, public and stakeholder meetings.
-Attend and report out at regular coordinating meetings with the broader IPT Community Engagement and Communications team.
-Ensure the compliance with Metrolinx and provincial policies and procedures involving Community Engagement and communications.
 
Qualifications and Skills 
Basic Qualifications
-Degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, politics, or related discipline.
-Five years community relations and/or communications experience ideally on a large transit or public infrastructure project.

-Knowledgeable about and experience working with the provincial and municipal governments and agencies
