The challenges of the job are:
Ø Perform the initial intake of the clients by collecting their personal and biographic information by telephone or in person depending on the situation.
Ø Intake services and provide follow-up by authorizing the services and referrals, establishing service plan updates, etc.
Ø Actively collaborating with the team of interveners (internal and external) or other committees to prepare, modify or follow the evolution of the files.
Ø Attending court sessions for file follow-up purposes or to testify according to court requirements if required.
Ø Keep up to date, for each client, a file in which is recorded all the relevant observations and information regarding their state according to the established procedures.
Ø Drafting various reports and documents in a concise manner.
Ø Keeping up-to-date statistics required by various authorities.
Ø Providing short- and long-term support and counseling services addressing the needs of clients with potentially multiple and chronic family issues.
Ø Providing support to the single parent’s families to fulfill the essential needs (food, clothing, social support, etc.).
Ø Acting as a mediator within families where dispute resolution has previously been initiated.
Ø Developing safety plans with clients as needed.
Ø Participate in annual operational planning by bringing forth deliverables related to Community Prevention.
Ø Maintaining contacts and exchanging in an ongoing fashion with the resources of the network regarding special cases, client follow-up and program implementation.
Qualifications required:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or criminology.
Ø Diploma of college studies in the areas of social work techniques, or in any other field related to the employment.
Ø Relevant experience in intervention related to youth protection and prevention services.
Ø Registered with a professional order.
Ø Strong interpersonal skills.
Ø Knowledge of the standards of the chosen accreditation agency
Ø Excellent communication skills in English.
Ø Mi’gmaq and French language an asset.
Ø Must have a valid Medicare card.
Ø Must have a valid driver’s license.
