The Community Support Worker will join the Community Services Team with the goal of providing culturally-safe and trauma informed approaches to planning, coordinating and implementing processes that will foster an improvement in the quality of life for Members and enhance community wellbeing. The Community Support Worker will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders with the common goal of supporting healing and fostering resilience through culturally-rooted community programs and services.
- Acts as a navigator for community members with connections to social, economic, recreational, employment and educational services in the community that meet their needs.
- Provides prevention activities/services and healing interventions that support children, families, and individuals in home and community.
- Develops a work plan and organizes life skill building and other skill training sessions as required by community members and collaborating with other agencies to ensure effective use of time and training dollars.
- Create and oversee annual budgets, complete reporting as required for all funding agencies, Council and Senior staff.
- Create information packages for Members who are in need of crisis, mental health, addictions and other supports.
- Acts as a positive role model for individuals and families in the community and promoting healthy lifestyles within the community by information sharing, liaison activities, agency promotion and other services in regard to mental health and addictions.
- Attends community meetings and events to build relationships with community members.
- Performs other duties as assigned
