Department Overview

The Compliance Department is responsible for identifying and preventing violations of regulatory requirements by both employees and clients.

This is accomplished by:

  • Conducting cross monitoring and surveillance for cash and derivatives such as Bond/Futures and Equity/Options
  • Providing training and education to business and support personnel
  • Liaising with regulators and internal auditors
  • Promoting a compliance culture within the firm
  • Taking preventative measures to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations
  • Reviewing new business opportunities, such as new products or markets from a compliance perspective

Job Details

The objective of this position is to automate alert calibration and enhance data analysis capabilities in support of the Global Trade Surveillance mandate.

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Computer Science; with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term
  • Examine GTS surveillance operations to identify any manual processes that could be automated.
  • Build a Business Intelligence (BI) platform to examine and enhance the quality of alerts.
  • Using the business intelligence platform to create a scorecard that utilizes the information in the case manager.
  • Work closely with IT support and Risk Management to ensure that trading technology and practices stay in line with firm policies and industry regulations.
  • Assisting other TDS compliance teams in automating and improving their programs to facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • This position is a 4-month work term and will commence May 6th to August 30th, 2024.
