Soil Vac is an excavation company that does work alongside utilities all throughout the GTA. Although we are considered an excavation company, we do more than just dig. Our jobs vary from day to day, which means no two days are the same!
We are looking for someone who is outgoing and social, it is a small company so someone who enjoys interacting and having a laugh with colleagues would fit right in. The friendly dynamic amongst the employees is what makes working here so much fun! We also require someone who is a quick learner, has a take charge attitude and enjoys working as team - no on site work at Soil Vac is done alone, so a team player is essential! It is essential to know, that all work is done outside - regardless of the weather, so we need someone who likes to be outdoors. No previous experience with excavation or electrical awareness is required - you will be provided all the necessary training.
A class three (3) technician (tech 3’s) is the entry-level job role at Soil Vac Inc. Tech 3’s are to assist with the basic functions at the job site, working in unison with the class 2 technicians and reporting to the sites crew leader and/or fleet supervisor.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Wearing all safety equipment and PPE at all times
- Set up and tear down of job sites
- Hold a valid First Aid certificate
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Getting trucks/trailers ready in the morning and cleaning off trucks/trailers at the end of the day
- Responsible for duties as assigned by crew leaders/supervisors
- Complete a final site sweep of each job site to double check that all tools and equipment have been gathered and stored on the truck/trailers
- The cleanliness of the shop, including removing garbage, sweeping floors, etc.
- Cleaning trucks and trailers; ensuring they are kept looking professional and with easy access for equipment and tools
- Completing your circle checks of work vehicles, keeping crew leader informed of any unsafe conditions
- Immediately report all defects and damages to vehicles, equipment and major tools
- Keeping trailers/trucks equipped with the necessary tools required for your days job
- Thorough knowledge of on-the-job safety and understanding tailboards at each and every job site
- Having materials/tools readily available when required by crew leader
- Must inform crew leader of any materials that are low in inventory
- Responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of others
