About the Opportunity
The Division of Community Pediatrics at NS Health Central Zone/IWK Health is seeking a Community Pediatrician for a full time position to establish a new community-based clinic in the Spryfield community located within the Halifax Regional Municipality (Central Zone).  This clinic will be the first of its kind in Nova Scotia and will provide pediatric care to patients who currently lack a primary care provider, while prioritizing patients who are at increased vulnerability for health outcomes.  The Pediatrician will provide a mix of primary care and consultant care to pediatric patients, while working alongside Associate Physicians.
We are seeking a Community Pediatrician who has a collaborative attitude, excellent communication and intrapersonal skills and is committed to delivering high quality, family-centered general pediatric care. Expertise in providing care at both the consultant level and primary care level is an asset.  The Pediatrician will establish the new clinic, including creating clinic processes, so will need to be innovative and have excellent evaluation and problem-solving skills. The Pediatrician will train, supervise, and mentor Associate Physicians, thus strong skills for teaching and giving feedback are crucial.

Expected Hours
The successful candidate will work in a predetermined clinic in Spryfield. This position will be compensated in the Alternative Payment Plan (APP) model: # 800 annually for a 1.0 FTE position (2024 rates, gross income).  The successful candidate will be responsible for covering all legal business arrangements and clinic overhead expenses.  A start date of June or July 2024 is ideal.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications Include:

-A medical degree
-Pediatrics Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
-CMPA medical insurance coverage (or equivalent)
-Eligibility for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
-Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
