Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Regional Manager, Payroll Services, the Coordinator, Payroll Services is responsible for managing, planning and directing the day-to-day Payroll functions for Northern Health to ensure the accurate payment of wages and benefits for all employees. Manages operations and resources and ensures that the financial requirements for the Canada Customs and Revenue Act, union collective agreements, and the auditors are met efficiently while maintaining a customer service focus.
Starting salary will be approximately from $72,445 to $90,556 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
•Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or Accounting plus successful completion of the Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) program;
•Five (5) years recent related payroll experience, including experience in a supervisory/management capacity, preferably in a multi-union health care setting;
•Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
•Professional accounting designation an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
•Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, direct, manage and implement.
•Demonstrated PC skills, including Excel in a complex computerized environment.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including the ability to make presentations to groups.
•Demonstrated ability to be effective in an environment subject to continuous change.
•Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment.
•Knowledge of current health care issues an asset.
•Ability to effectively manage, supervise, guide and direct staff.
•Effective organizational and scheduling abilities.
•Ability to pay close attention to detail, maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
•Familiarity with staffing and labour relation articles within the collective agreement(s) an asset.
•Well-developed management and interpersonal skills in dealing with others at all levels in the organization.
•Ability to take initiative in problem solving and implementing changes and new systems.
•Ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.
