Function Summary


Reporting to the Director, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management, this role is responsible for:
Developing, implementing, and evaluating Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management initiatives across the organization.
Coordinating the development, submission, and reporting for the annual organizational Quality Improvement Plan.
Co-leading the Accreditation Canada accreditation process in conjunction with the Director, Quality Patient Safety and Risk Management.
Collaborating with individuals and departments across the organization to support the Risk Assessment Checklist program.
Providing project consultation and support.
Conducting corporate-level clinical audits.
Conducting education sessions on quality improvement and Risk Management (RM) methodology.
Leading the patient experience survey process and providing both qualitative and quantitative analysis of results.
Supporting the electronic incident reporting system (RIMS) and complaints/compliments management system.
Supporting the organization in meeting the requirements under the Excellent Care for All Act.
Ensuring that the organization meets the requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Participating in other approved activities necessary for the optimal functioning of the Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management Department.

Committed to patient and resident safety, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or other relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in leadership positions demonstrating expertise in quality improvement, research, and health administration
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with research methodology, evaluation, project coordination / management and report writing
  • Excellent knowledge of indicator development and quality improvement methodology
  • Excellent knowledge of Patient Safety issues
  • Knowledge of quality and Patient Safety legislation and best practice standards
  • Advanced knowledge of improvement, evaluation and Risk Management techniques, tools, and principles
  • Experience working with Accreditation Canada
  • Advanced computer skills and medical terminology
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)

Preferred Qualifications


  • Preparation at the Master's level, preferably in Health related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Experience in geriatrics, Long Term Care (LTC), Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and/or Complex Continuing Care
  • Training and experience in applying LEAN methodologies
