Role pre-requisites:
- 3 years of accounting leadership experience of a food business in Canada – required
- CPA/CA designation – Asset
- Sage 300 or 500 accounting software experience – required
- Business level proficiency in both English and French. – required
- US cliental experience. – required
- Advanced Excel proficiency (Pivot tables and data analysis) – required
- CMA designation and ADP workforce payroll software experience – preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the corporate accounts of the company through best practices and report to the president while coordinating work with other members of the head office.
- Set procedures and reports to be able to manage daily production in manufacturing facilities.
- Preparation of financial statements and other financial reports. Analyze and make recommendations.
- Prepare cash flows, financial forecasts and budgets and make recommendations to improve profitability and ensure financial stability.
- Analyze financial performance monthly, produce financial summaries and follow-up on any variances.
- Improve, maintain, and ensure quality of various reports such as, budgets, AP/AR, costing, inventories, financial statements etc.
- Review A/R and A/P on a regular basis, follow-up on any overdue accounts and verify all cheques and invoices before they are submitted to the President for approval.
- Administration of payroll and group insurance.
- Review, develop and maintain all processes and procedures for the finance and accounting systems and functions to ensure that accounting principles are applied correctly.
- Preparation of tax filings, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements; jointly with the President, manage foreign exchange operations.
- Maintain consistent reporting and positive working relations with our plants, financial partners, and external auditors.
- Implement accurate cost accounting and determine and improve project profitability.
- Analyze inventory, produce inventory reports, and pursue increase of turnover.
- Coordinate government credits and R&D claims and follow-up as needed.
- Responsible for matters relating to Human Resources (hiring, termination of employment, compensation, legal compliance).
- Build company-wide controls and optimize financial returns.
- Provide proactive, timely and accurate support to the team in the form of communication
preparing various documents, reports, KPI’s, and other documents and meetings
- Establish relationship with the plant management team and Stakeholders.
- Ensure Accounting practices are aligned with US/Canada applicable laws and taxes.
- Audit the plants for corporate and operational projects that directly impact financials.
- Perform other tasks as needed in the best interest of the company.
