BARR LLP is currently looking for a Corporate Paralegal to assist our solicitor team. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in a corporate services or Corporate Paralegal role. The candidate must be able to handle a variety of corporate work on files from multiple lawyers in the firm.

Role
The role shall consist of, but shall not be limited to, the following:
- Maintain a growing corporate services practice including timely preparation of annual returns, dividend resolutions, and other tasks as required by clients or their agents.
- Draft, proof, and prepare a variety of legal documents for different sorts of business transactions including, but not limited to, incorporation documents, resolutions, minutes, and shareholders agreements.
- Review, analyze, summarize, update and maintain basic to complex minute books and corporate records; Ensure minutes, records, accounting systems, and document management systems remain up to date.
- Processing and maintaining extra-provincial registrations as well as limited partnership registrations.
- Organize and manage corporate services task lists and assist in the facilitation of closings and reorganizations; Register, renew, and cancel business names and partnerships; gather information; prepare and file documents and reports.
- Perform due diligence of minute books, identifying deficiencies and material matters, prepare reports recommending manner of rectifying deficiencies; prepare any necessary documents required to comply with governing statutes.
- Complete time entries, prepare accounts, and send bills to clients on a timely basis.
- Respond to daily calls and inquiries from clients, counsel, bankers, and accountants.
- Manage work from multiple lawyers.
- General administrative tasks, including office and file management.
- Provide administrative assistance and general office duties.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent
- 5 or more years in a corporate services or Corporate Paralegal role
- CORES Level 1 and 2 required (Level 3 an asset)
- APPRES certification
- Knowledge or experience with LEAP an asset
- Proficient with computers and office software, including intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
- Highly organized and able to prioritize work
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Strong team player, demonstration of a positive work ethic
- Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced work environment
- Strong customer service and phone skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently; other language skills are an asset

Salary
The starting salary for this position will be between $52,000.00 to $94,000.00 and shall be commensurate to the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
Starting Date
BARR LLP would prefer the successful candidate begin immediately but will work with the successful candidate as needed.
