Position Overview:
The Corporate Security Guard position provide security services to ensure the protection of City property, staff, and the rights of all citizens to use and enjoy City-owned property safely.
Responsibilities:
- Manages behavior and enforces Corporate policy and by-laws on all City-owned property.
- Patrols and/or monitors properties and activity on all City-owned properties and assets.
- Respond to City wide alarms and client requests for assistance.
- Provides security for Corporate special events.
- Secures City Hall and other Corporate properties daily.
- Operates central alarm monitoring station, C.C.T.V. and audio alarms.
- Provide directions and assistance to the public and visitors to City Hall ensuring a friendly and helpful public image.
- Acts as the person in charge during emergency situations.
- Appear in court as required.
- Deliver deposits.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 year Diploma in a related relevant field (ie/ Security Management, Law & Security Administration, Police Foundations) with minimum 1 year of related experience.
- Valid security license.
- Valid MTO "G" class driver's license in good standing and be able to operate a city vehicle & must be able to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Demonstrated understanding in interpreting various acts and authorities under the Criminal Code, Trespass to Property Act, and Municipal Codes.
- Preference will be given to candidates who possess First Aid, C.P.R. & AED, Use of Force Certification.
- Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a concise and efficient manner.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- Working knowledge of Security related software/equipment, such as the: Axiom System, ITrak, CCTV's and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative.
- Must be willing to work shifts with rotating days off.
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
