Description
The FNHOO is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Culture Support Coordinator at the First Nations Health Ombudsperson Head Office located in Saskatoon. The Cultural Support Coordinator provides traditional teachings and ceremonies by coordinating access to Elders and Traditional people to meet the needs of the First Nations Health Ombudsperson Office Board of Directors and FNHOO Employees. The Cultural Coordinator will work to promote cultural awareness and understanding, safety and competency while promoting healing and wellness.
Facilitate talking, teaching and healing circles with a priority to service the FNHOO Board of Director and the FNHOO Employees.
Provide traditional-based counselling and participate in action planning.
One on One traditional based teachings with the FNHOO Board and FNHOO Employees
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years experience working with First Nations in the areas of Cultures and Traditions.
Basic knowledge of computer skills Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook, and the internet.
Education
Certificate or bachelors in health, and other related disciplines will be considered an asset.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience
Is recognized by other knowledge holders and Elders in Treaty areas of Saskatchewan.
Possess oral history and knowledge of Treaties, Inherent Rights and Indigenous rights.
Possesses an understanding and acknowledgement for the diversity of First Nations cultures, languages and traditions.
Other:
Leading, advising and liaising on traditional knowledge and healing projects and
priorities.
Other related duties may be assigned from time to time.
Be willing and able to travel as required.
