DUTIES:
· Perform the following multiple building trade repairs to Housing Services apartment buildings and family units: carpentry, minor plumbing, minor electrical, mechanical (HVAC), structural repairs, masonry, appliance, window glazing, lock changing, dry walling, painting, roofing, landscaping and equipment repairs and maintenance.
· Daily cleaning of the building including garbage removal, cleaning of common areas, windows, walls, floors and exterior of the building.
· Respond to emergency issues, assisting Property Supervisors and emergency response personnel
· Carry out minor snow clearing, de-icing, grass cutting and grounds maintenance of public areas.
· Carry out exterior property maintenance, such as tree removal, landscaping, fence and asphalt repairs.
· Generate work orders and reports for repairing units, annual preventative maintenance inspections, emergency, health and safety and general building repairs,
· Maintain preventative, routine and emergency records for all the building systems,
· Confirm that building repairs, seasonal service contracts, upgrades, or replacements have been completed by various contractors,
· Stock and inventory control, deliver maintenance supplies, move equipment
· Be aware of and carry out the duties as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety and County policies,
· Such other duties as may be required or assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must possess a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
- Two years experience in the field of building, electrical, mechanical or maintenance.
· Able to safely and competently use hand and power tools.
· Excellent knowledge of cleaning products and chemicals and how to use these products and chemicals.
· Knowledge of apartment building fire alarm systems.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to trouble shoot, recognize when maintenance is required and provide solutions to maintenance issues.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision, organized, reliable, pleasant and responsive to the needs of tenants and the general public.
· Prior completion of asbestos abatement protocol is preferred.
HOURS OF WORK: Initial positing is for 40 hours/week, 10 hours as Maintenance
WAGE RANGE: $26.08 (Custodian) and $31.10/hour (Maintenance Specialist) with excellent fringe benefits
