This role interacts with guests throughout their visit from when they arrive at admissions, during their exploration of the conservatory through to shopping in the gift store and dining in the cafe. The Customer Service Clerk will work closely with the Gift Store and Guest Services Manager and will assist with a diverse assortment of Guest Services duties that reflect the immediate needs of the organization. Typical daily responsibilities of the Customer Service Clerk include greeting visitors, processing admissions, providing visitor information, and processing gift store and cafe transactions. The incumbent will support operations in all departments such as Admissions, Gift Store and Café as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the frontline team (Giftstore, Admission, and Cafe) in a variety of roles
- Assist the front desk and be the first point of contact for visitors who are entering the facility, greet visitors, process admission ticket transactions, and provide general information including the facility layout, featured exhibits, special events, tours and café specials
- Process admission ticket sales and gift store purchase transactions using the online timed ticketing platform, as well as on the point of sale system
- Assist customers with questions and directions as needed
- Providing information to visitors and answering phone inquiries
- Interact with staff, volunteers and visitors including but not limited to children, youth, adults, seniors, disabled and/or special needs persons, persons who are members of a visible minority and/or Indigenous peoples and will ensure the provision of services to the community
- Receive training on how to engage visitors with information relating to insects, environment, & STEM discipline area of science
- Provide coverage for lunches breaks, sick days and vacation days, as required, in the Gift Store, Admissions and Café
- During peak times, assist and fill-in other frontline areas (i.e. Admissions, Gift Store, Café, Conservatory, etc.)
- Responsible for scheduled sanitising and cleaning of high touch areas in the common visitor areas of the building, that include and not limited to: lobby, gift store, visitor washrooms

- In accordance with the AODA Standards, make every effort to ensure the store-front and foyer are free of hazards, clean and safe and assist persons with a disability and/or special needs to ensure they have an excellent visitor experience
- Keep a clean and tidy workspace on a regular basis
- Other duties to support daily operations and Customer Service as assigned
- Adhere to all Company policies, rules, systems and procedures which are outlined in the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory Employee Handbook, as well as all Health and Safety policies and procedures and safe work practices
QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS, & SKILLS
- An interest in or pursuing post-secondary education in Customer Service, tourism and hospitality, or a related field an asset
- Experience working in retail or a Customer Service related setting as asset
- Cash Handling practices an asset
- Adapt with changing job requirements and goals based on business needs
- Coordinate in a team environment and work with others to achieve shared goals
- Identify issues and apply solutions to fix problems across the facility and grounds
- Stay organized and manage time, priorities, & deadlines
- Exchange thoughts and information with colleagues and customers through a variety of forms
- Use digital technology through computer, tablet and other device’s software, systems, and applications
- Police Background Check (Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check)
UNIFORM
Staff are required to wear the appropriate uniform, footwear and safety equipment at all times
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time fixed-term position. The shifts are typically from 9 am to 5 pm on both weekdays and weekends. The rate of pay is $17.50/hour.
