Job Summary

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a designated Mental Health facility and part of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Services are delivered on-site in Coquitlam, Prince George and Vernon and community services are provided across the province.
At the Maples, Social Workers/Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinicians have an important role to play on the multi-disciplinary team and work alongside other professionals such as Elders, Child and Youth Care Workers, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Indigenous Child Care Counsellors, Recreation staff and Resource staff. You will provide a range of mental health and wellness services to children, youth, and families when the child or youth is suffering from serious emotional, psychological, behavioural, or psychiatric illness.
Social Workers/CYMH Clinicians provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children, youth, and their families. Social Workers/CYMH Clinicians work in flexible ways including on-site and in community settings. Maples Social Workers/CYMH Clinicians work with families/caregivers and communities to support coordinated services, develop plans, and work towards positive outcomes for children, youth, and families.

Job Requirements:
  • Masters in Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level, or equivalent.
    • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week as per the Telework Agreement.
An eligibility list may be established.
