As the Data & Compliance Specialist, you will collaborate with the Cross Connection Control team to monitor bylaw compliance to protect drinking water safety. The role is a crucial link to maintain, improve, and analyze data, and communicate between the City, third party cross connection control testers, and customers. This role reviews, researches, and improves data to ensure accuracy, uses the data to communicate with customers, and escalate enforcement matters to team members. Primary duties include:
- Maintain, analyze, research, enter, and correct data using Microsoft Office tools and custom software to track and monitor bylaw compliance.
- Support enforcement activities by collecting and maintaining clear and concise customer interaction records, manage timelines and activities contributing to enforcement, and communicate and inform customers of requirements for bylaw compliance.
- Onboard third-party testers to online self-reporting software including account set up, formal and informal training, troubleshooting, and account maintenance.
- Acts as a main point of contact for customers and testers for inquiries and notifications.
- Communicate regularly with customers regarding upcoming compliance requirements and non-compliance situations.
- Contribute to and collaborate with a continuously improving high functioning team.
Qualifications
- A completed 1 year certificate in Land Administration, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field and at least 5 years of experience in a related area such as, data maintenance, customer service, compliance management, or land administration OR
- A completed 2 year diploma in Land Administration, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field with at least 3 years of experience in a related area such as, data maintenance, customer service, compliance management, or land administration.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Experience using 311 software, POSSE, SAP, and map software are considered assets.
- Experience in analyzing data, managing processes, using process software, reading maps, and using web based software are also considered assets.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
- A proven customer service focus, attention to detail, responsive to operational changes, experience in cross connection, ability to take initiative, and foster working relationships with coworkers and internal and external parties are assets.
