Responsibilities


About the Role:
This position combines business sustainability and Data Management. It is a four-month, full-time, remote position to help organize and mobilize sustainability knowledge. You’ll help manage NBS’ ever-growing libraries of sustainability content, contacts, and research, innovating internal processes to achieve more impact. You’ll work collaboratively with the Network for Business Sustainability team online with Zoom meetings and project management software “Basecamp.”

As a Data Management Specialist, you’ll help organize information for internal and external audiences. Your role will centre around implementing innovative ways to collect, process, and store information. Tasks and projects include:
  • Managing database of contacts in the Sustainability Centres Community (SCC)
  • Analyzing the business sustainability landscape to identify key trends, focal topics, and questions
  • Organizing sustainability research publications and NBS content by focal topic
  • Supporting organizational processes for NBS events
  • Working with NBS web specialist intern to compile annual Impact Report
  • Compiling opportunities and articles in Mailchimp for NBS monthly newsletters
  • Other priority NBS tasks as required
  • Being a committed, engaged, and positive member of a small team!

Qualifications
Education:
  • Must be a student returning to studies in the fall

Experience:
  • Previous work experience in a similar role or within the department

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Independent, entrepreneurial, resourceful, reliable
  • Knowledge of business sustainability concepts with a strong interest in positive impact
  • Experience working in Excel or with other database tools
  • Helpful tools to be familiar with (though not essential): Basecamp project manager, HubSpot, WordPress, Mailchimp
  • Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western's policies and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new software programs as required
