What is the opportunity?
RBC (Barbados) Service Company Limited has a vacancy for a Data Mining and Software Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for providing business intelligence (leveraging software and services to transform source data into actionable information) at a low-medium level by using a systematic approach to plan, create, and maintain data architectures while also keeping it aligned with RBCICL business requirements. You must have the competence to work in any development environment regardless of the programming language. Similarly, you must keep up to date with trending technologies to be able to support RBCICL as a data-driven organization. This role is aligned to and knowledgeable in one or more lines of business and understands that area’s data systems and platforms. You will be required to have a strong background in data engineering, data analysis, and project management, as well as good communication and leadership skills.
What will you do?
- Collaborate on the planning, coordinating, and overseeing the Data Mining and Software project(s) from start to finish.
- Collaborate on defining the project scope, objectives, deliverables, timeline, and communicate them to the stakeholders and the Data Mining and Software Engineer team.
- Collaborate on the preparation of presentation(s) to management.
- Responsible for the design, development and management of regular production and ad-hoc Data Mining and reporting requests of low-high complexity (in coding).
- Support the Development of the Extract Transform and Load process and database objects used to load data from different source systems into staging tables and transforms data to be stored in the repository.
- Responsible for constructing and maintaining data architectures and production schedules.
- Manage the storage of data and access to the data to/from the repository.
- Pinpoint and escalate information about tasks where manual participation can be eliminated with automation.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or a discipline that develops capability in Data Mining, analytics and reporting.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with financial products/services and corresponding data.
- Solid working experience with very large relational databases and large volumes of data of various formats.
- Advanced SAS, SQL programming demonstrating the use of efficient querying/Data Mining techniques.
- Advanced level of experience using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data migration.
- Advanced level of experience with designing and building reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Advanced level of experience with programming and application development with emphasis on C#, Visual Basic, Python, R programming.
- Advanced level of experience in AI Automation
