As the Development Engineer, you are responsible for coordinating the engineering input on matters related to planning applications including land use, development, and servicing proposals with the City. Primary duties include:
- Represent the Development Engineering division and engineering interests at the Development Applications Review Team (DART) meetings.
- Collaborate and negotiate with customers and City specialist groups to find innovative solutions to engineering issues arising through the development approval process.
- Balance the needs of the City with the development industry to ensure infrastructure is constructed in a safe, timely and effective manner.
- Participate on task forces and committees representing the engineering aspects of development.
- Establish, interpret, and explain policies and procedures to other business units, industry, developers, and the public.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering with at least 4 years of related post Professional Engineer (P.Eng) experience.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) by the first day of work.
- Advanced communication, judgement, and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to make independent decisions.
- High attention to detail with a strong team and customer focus are essential.
- Applicants with less experience may be considered for a modified and more junior engineering position.
