Work Site: Healthiest Babies Possible, Robert & Lily Lee Family Community Health Centre - Vancouver, BC
Status: Regular Part Time (0.8 FTE)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $35.65 - $44.56 per hour

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a registered Dietitian to join the team at Robert & Lily Lee Family Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Dietitian 2 with VCH you will:
  • Provide clinical dietetic services to socially at-risk pregnant women participating in the Healthiest Babies Possible Program and the Youth Pregnancy and Parenting program.
  • Visit clients in a variety of settings to assess nutrition/prenatal health needs, develop nutrition prenatal care plans, provide nutrition and lifestyle counseling, and monitor clients progress towards nutritional goals.
  • Participate in the development, organization and facilitation of client pre and post partum drop in groups and food security initiatives.
  • Act as a clinical resource to interdisciplinary team members.
  • The position requires travel in Vancouver and Richmond.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Current full registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC).

Graduate of Dietitians of Canada Accredited Dietetic Internship Program.

Two (2) years recent related experience working with at risk prenatal/postnatal women and their families and food security projects/activities or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Local area travel requires use of personal vehicle. Valid BC Driver’s License.

Knowledge & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition issues relevant to community health and public health.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of prenatal nutrition, maternal health concerns, harm reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge of breastfeeding, postpartum health and early child development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition education principles, methods and delivery techniques for clients/parents of various cultural, educational and financial backgrounds.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health promotion & population health strategies and frameworks/models.
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and available services.
  • Considerable knowledge of group facilitation skills and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of food security issues and possible strategies to enhance food security initiatives for marginalized populations and others in the Vancouver Community area.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain a variety of charts, records and reports related to work and to perform all duties with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and in collaborating for community interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing caseload in a complex environment.
  • Computer literacy specifically with Windows applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
