Job description

The North Bay Police Service is currently accepting applications for the position of permanent part-time Digital Evidence Management Systems (DEMS) Clerk. This position is responsible for researching and retrieving information and providing copies of disclosure content for: court purposes; agency requests; and Federal record requests.

Prerequisite:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing.
  • Possess a Secondary School Diploma.
  • Pursuant to the requirements of the North Bay Police Standard operating Procedure HR-NBPS-016, an applicant must consent to their ongoing participation in the Safeguarding Program for the duration of the assignment, and must be deemed “suitable” to commence such duties based upon the pre-entry assessment of a clinical psychologist under contract to the Service in order to be confirmed as the successful applicant

Principal Tasks:

  • Maintain electronic video evidence as it relates specifically to body worn
    camera video and the related disclosure requirements according to policies
    and procedures.
  • Process and prepare outside requests for information, which includes court
    requests, Crown requests, agency requests, and Freedom of Information
    requests.
  • Ensure responses are provided in a timely fashion, adhering to internal
    policy and MFIPPA.
  • Record and track responses according to departmental protocol.
  • Follow proper policies and procedures to ensure that data is processed
    efficiently and in accordance with the guidelines established for the
    collection, preservation and retention of evidence.
  • Review recordings to ensure that sensitive footage of victims and innocent
    bystanders is appropriately redacted to protect their privacy and safety in
    accordance with MFIPPA and all other applicable privacy legislation.
  • Coordinate and track data retention, disseminate video evidence to
    requesting parties, fulfill Freedom of Information requests.
  • Assists with quality assurance of body worn camera audit functions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation: $31.88 per hour + 8% in lieu of benefits and 5.4% vacation pay.

Hours: No minimum guarantee in terms of hours as per collective agreement.

Candidates will be evaluated in several stages, which will include testing, panel interview, personality assessment and a background investigation.
