The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture works to enable a prosperous, market-driven agricultural industry through a supportive legislative framework, policies, programs and services. Within the Ministrys Policy Branch, the Economics and Analytics Unit provides analytical support, geospatial analysis, forecasting, and economic modelling to help develop agricultural policies and improve the effectiveness of our programs and services.
The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a collaborative and innovative leader for the role of the Director of the Economics and Analytics Unit. The successful candidate will:
- Have knowledge of Saskatchewan and Canadian agriculture and economic analysis and modelling techniques;
- Be able to lead, coach and direct a team of talented professionals and collaborate with others;
- Be able to develop and provide strategic options, comprehensive policy advice, briefing papers, recommendations and perspectives for senior officials;
- Have a proven capability to identify, develop, and deliver key strategic insights, advice, and policy with a high degree of innovation and accountability; and
- Have well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with, and influence, a variety of stakeholders.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position were obtained through a graduate degree in agricultural economics, public policy, administration, social sciences or statistics, and several years of experience supervising, training & coaching staff.
