The Ministry seeks an innovative, collaborative, and strategic leader for the Director, Internal Audit Services role for a permanent position within the Corporate Services Division. This position will establish the strategic direction and vision of the Internal Audit function for the Ministry of Finance.
Reporting administratively to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, the successful candidate will:
- Establish a comprehensive, integrative audit vision and strategy;
- Provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services to ensure the Ministry and programs and initiatives are meeting strategic objectives;
- Develop and implement a risk-based Internal Audit plan to evaluate internal controls, assess compliance with legislation and financial policy, and monitor the efficient use of government resources;
- Bring sound knowledge of Internal Audit practices, financial management, risk management, governance, and control processes; and
- Demonstrate and utilize technology and risk management capabilities for operational excellence.
- Have leadership strengths that promote an environment of trust, creativity, flexibility, engagement, and inclusion;
- Contribute to a culture of innovation and share a strong interest in leveraging technology to optimize business operations for the Ministry to achieve its goals;
- Influence on key strategies that will be of benefit to the entire Ministry and are in alignment with the strategic direction while maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships with internal and external clients; and
- Have exceptional communication skills.
The competencies required for this position would be obtained from a Chartered Professional Accountant designation and/or Certified Internal Auditor designation. Additional designations such as a Certified Information Systems Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner would be an asset, along with several years of experience in a management role.
