As the Director, Private Assets Product Specialist, you will deliver high touch and persuasive service and support to increase advisor knowledge, adoption and AUM growth in proprietary private asset solutions. 
As a member of the Multi-Asset Management team, an investment team at Scotia GAM, your primary role is to support advisor adoption of Private Assets in proprietary solutions developed by Scotia GAM in partnership with Sun Life Capital (SLC) Management and other private asset managers with whom we may partner.
Using your investment expertise, private asset knowledge, channel awareness, relationship and language skills, you will work across Scotia’s multiple channels of wealth management distribution (in Canada and, as needed, globally) to educate advisors and clients on the value of Private Assets, promote the benefits of Scotia GAM solutions and support growth in assets under management. 
The role will be viewed as a subject matter expert and will provide leadership, direction and specialized knowledge to advisors in the area of private asset investments and related portfolio construction. 
As a new role within the organization, there will be considerable opportunity to shape the direction and development of the capability going forward.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
-Build and deepen trusting relationships with advisors, while establishing yourself as a Private Asset subject matter expert. Develop a thorough understanding of target distribution channels, platforms, and operating environment to maximize advisor engagement and ability to successfully position proprietary solutions to clients.
-Combine your deep knowledge of Private Assets strategies, investment affiliates and portfolio construction with advisors to generate growth of proprietary private asset solutions.
-Prepare and deliver the annual Private Asset sales plan. Develop and maintain a segmentation strategy of advisors to track their ability and motivation to position Scotia GAM Private Asset strategies and develop creative solutions to influence their actions. 
-Increase advisor adoption and deepen penetration of Private Assets by delivering specialized education, high touch product support, market updates and business building ideas. This will be accomplished through proactive outreach that includes in branch meetings, regular online/telephone contact, presentations and roadshows. 
-Work with Product, Marketing and Scotia GAM strategic partners to develop and maintain compelling investment content and marketing material, including pitch decks, fund commentaries and thought leadership. Create and conduct advisor appreciation events and assist with direct-to-client sales opportunities, as required. 
-Develop key industry relationships and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the competitive environment, industry trends and market dynamics.
-Actively contribute to the product development roadmap. 
-Liaise with compliance to ensure that sales program and concepts are in-line with industry compliance standards
 
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
-Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or in a related discipline.
-CFA designation preferred
-Minimum 10 years Asset Management industry experience 
-Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, with demonstrated success.
-Record of progression into roles with increasing responsibility.
-Thorough understanding of capital markets including Private Assets, Alternative investment and related portfolio construction techniques.
-Client focused with strong communication skills – effective in communicating new ideas orally and in writing to various audiences; strong persuasion, listening and interpretation skills.
-Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills – capable of cross functional teaming; facilitates discussions and debate, and nurtures collaboration.
-Self-motivated and takes initiative, with high degree of professionalism and integrity. 
-Proven ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines. 
-Ability to reprioritize projects, multi-task, and quickly adapt to changing priorities.
-Ability to travel. 
-Bilingualism+ is a definite asset.
