The role:
The Director Project Management, Project Delivery & Support is responsible for managing a team of Program and Project Managers who provide Project Management support to multiple technology teams across Scotiabank.
What will you do?
Resource Management
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to employees within our resource pool
- Run and improves Performance Management Model, creating a consistent and transparent approach to measure and enhance Project Managers and Project Coordinators performance
- Participate in the successful recruitment and onboarding of Program Managers and Management of full-time employees
- Develop and maintain reports and analytics resources to keep an up-to-date inventory of skill sets, capacity and current project timelines
- Provide analysis around key metrics such as availability, utilization, and open seat status
- Proactively identify resource issues/trends, and shortages/surpluses
- Participate in monthly Resource Forecasting/Planning Process to ensure staffing needs are accurately reflected in PPM Uses team building skills to create and sustain highly motivated groups with diverse and multi-functional teams
Portfolio Governance Issues Management
- Support Project Managers (PD&S) on project issues, escalations, focusing on performance improvement
- Support Portfolio Owners (CIOs) on resolving resource issues focusing on improving portfolio performance
- Monitor and report project governance key performance indicators
Support Network Management
- Manage Project Manager Working group, Pod meetings, Community of Practice, and Buddy & Mentoring Program, focusing on ensuring proper communication, capturing and disseminating good practices, and ensuring proper support for resources
- Help create training programs to keep all employees up-to-date in new processes rolled out
What do you need to succeed?
- 10 + years of experience in the financial service industry, managing large complex project teams
- 5 + years of leadership experience
- Strong competence in resource management
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline, MBA desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge on Project Management skills and methodologies
- Competence in building strong strategic relationships
- Knowledge of the Bank's formal and informal organization structure
- Expert facilitation and interviewing skills
- Expert ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments / stakeholders
- Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft office applications (excel, ppt, teams)
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management software (such as CAPPM)
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot tables, formulas, Vlookup, Macros)
