As the Director, Scotia Securities Inc.(SSI) Operations & Business Controls, you will be responsible for the design, execution, and evaluation of the overall operations functions for Scotia Securities Inc., the CIRO regulated mutual fund dealer. The incumbent will work in close partnership with the SSI Dealer and Global Operations to deliver an optimal client experience while ensuring effective and efficient service quality and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Lead and drive a client focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
- Define the overall operations structure across Global Wealth Management (GWM) Operations, Global Operations and SSI Dealer ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities to eliminate duplication, address control gaps & align on SLA's
- Document critical processes and controls, focusing on developing incremental preventative and detective controls to manage the overall operational, regulatory, financial & reputational risk
- Develop, implement, and establish monthly KPI/KRI reporting to ensure the ongoing oversight and evaluation of key processes and controls across all aspects of the SSI journey and allow for the timely escalation and management of issues
- Define and establish an effective, ongoing engagement and oversight model with all partners across GWM (i.e., Operations, Compliance, Internal Controls, Engineering, etc.) to ensure all issues and initiatives are properly addressed and implemented
- Provide subject matter expertise in support of the SSI Dealer and Global Operations in resolving any non-standard client issues
The Must Haves:
- 5+ years in a people leadership role is required
- 10+ years' experience in an investment dealer operations role
- Solid understanding of the regulatory & compliance framework (i.e., CIRO & CSA)
- University degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline
- Familiarity with system platforms used within SSI and the broader mutual fund industry (RPM, IP, CGI, PrimeBase, Fundserv, etc.)
