Purpose of Job:

The Director, Judicious Insights provides judicious and innovative advice considering global best practices, the bank's Model Risk Management Framework and regulatory requirements to maximize the value of model investments. Close interaction with other Global Risk Management units is required to collaboratively develop and recommend comprehensive perspectives on current and forward-looking judicious direction for the Model Risk Management Team. The Director will also drive high priority initiatives including automation and innovation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other Global Model Risk Management teams to ensure the model risk management strategy is aligned with most recent regulatory requirements.

  • Proactively assists Global Model Risk Management with the execution of departmental projects, remediation roadmaps and implementation of regulatory requirements or other operational enhancements through cross functional collaboration.

  • Provides project management support to departmental key priority initiatives. Assists the development of required business cases and provides reporting and status updates to senior management on execution progress and recommendations on productivity enhancements.

  • Works closely with key stakeholders (including model developers, validators, model users, internal audit and senior management) to identify opportunities for efficiencies, automation, and improvements of Model Risk Management lifecycle.

  • Brings strong analytical skills and experience in developing and implementing strategies with clear business impact through a data driven approach.

  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; informing vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Job Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in Management/Business, Finance or Engineering.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written

  • Strong risk management knowledge and ability to succinctly socialize key priorities to stakeholders.

  • Writing for diverse audiences and delivering strong, relevant, and consistent messaging.

  • Project management experience is an asset.

  • Intellectually curious, with strong business judgment.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services/ risk management role, with project management experience

  • More than 10 years of experience in model risk management, analytics and developing and implementing strategies with clear business impact through a data driven approach.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience building of performance and risk measurement concepts and methodologies.

  • At least 7 years of experience writing for diverse audiences and delivering strong, relevant, and consistent messaging.
