Summary of Position

The Kitchen Dishwasher maintains cleanliness around our kitchens and servery. Responsibilities include collecting used dishes, plates and utensils, loading washing machines and stacking washed items appropriately. This is part of our behind-the-scenes operation that helps provide an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Start dishwashing machines at the beginning of each shift.
• Clean out filters and change out water of the dishwashing machine throughout the shift.
• Load and unload dishes, thoroughly spraying/scrubbing clean before loading.
• Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden serving boards, large pots).
• Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately.
• Collect used cookware from kitchen areas, especially outdoor kitchen.
• Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours.
• Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and inform managers when stock is low.
• Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues.
• Remove compost, garbage, and recycling regularly.
• Sanitize kitchen areas.
• Sweep and mop kitchen areas at the end of each shift.
• Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
• Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies, and outstanding hospitality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Work experience as dishwasher or kitchen desirable

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

• Hands-on experience with industrial washing machines considered asset
• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
• Time management skills
• Attention to detail and sanitation rules
• Flexibility to work in shifts with ability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
• Active listening and effective communication skills
• Team spirit
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
