Mile 37 Craft Canning is BC's leading mobile packaging company with a focus on quality and customer service. This is a uniquely awesome opportunity to step into a leadership role in our ever growing Central Division. This role requires a special person. The successful candidate will be looking to make a name for themselves. This person will be a leader and a difference maker right off the bat. You will be in charge of all machine operations, managing a small team, and collaborating with our headquarters in the Lower Mainland.

Mile 37 works with Wild Goose Canning lines exclusively. These machines require skillful adjustments and the occasional repair to keep them running smoothly. Experience on the exact equipment that we use is preferred but not required. Someone who has all the qualities we are looking for but only some of the experience should still apply.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • You are excited and passionate about the craft beverage industry and are willing to learn some new skills to enter the industry
  • Transport and set up/take down of heavy equipment in a box truck to and/or from canning runs
  • Chemical Mixing and Sanitation Procedures
  • Setting up and troubleshooting all equipment, such as canning line, depal and date coder
  • Consistent quality checks
  • Keeping the equipment clean and up to Mile 37 standards
  • Full understanding of company policies and rules
  • Collaborating with team members and customers staff
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy packaging machinery
  • Machinery repair and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot beverage conditions
  • Make necessary fixes on the fly
  • Maintain site cleanliness and leave the site in better condition than when you arrived.
  • Ensuring all machinery is operating at the best level of performance possible.
  • Drive company vehicles to and from the site in a safe and responsible manner as required.
  • Record production data and inventory levels
  • Ensure all materials required have been checked and signed off correctly before leaving the distribution center prior to each day’s packaging run.
  • Receive and handle shipments
  • Check-in on customers. Build relationships.

  • Ensure quality product via quality assurance procedures and sanitation/hygiene procedures
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Hardworking: Pride in your work, self-motivation, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are all essential.
  • Quick Learner: There is a lot to learn as our procedures and processes are always improving.
  • Valid BC Drivers License
  • Transportation to and from work is a must, as well as a clean driving record.
  • Able to bend and kneel on concrete floors as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Pushing/ pulling hoses, and canning equipment during setup and break down.
  • Willing to leave when the job is done, not when the shift is scheduled to end.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the province

Schedule:

  • Shifts typically range from 8-12 hours.

Experience:

  • Canning line operation/beverage packaging experience (Required)
  • Managerial and/or leadership experience is an asset (Required)
  • Beverage Canning: Minimum 1 year (Required)
  • Driving 5 Ton Truck: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer service/relations is an asset
  • Basic computer skills considered an asset
