Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children, ages 18 months to 5.9 years old, through our nature based programming.
Your Role will be to cover breaks and programming time to all homerooms and help in housekeeping duties. You will also may need to cover sick calls/leave in any room as needed. If you have a love for working with children and are committed to their development, we encourage you to apply.
Duties:
- Implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- Support activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
- Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children (indoors and outdoors).
- Aiding in the assessment of the abilities, interests and needs of children and discussing these with homeroom staff and parents if applicable.
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems, aid in reporting, and discussing these observations with homeroom staff.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, sleeping, and toileting habits. Must be comfortable with changing children’s diapers and clothing if soiled.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents, and community service providers working with children.
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping duties such as generalized cleaning, storage room organization, cooking duties (when required).
- Adhere to homeroom routines, positive behaviour guidance strategies, and staff policy and procedures.
- Uphold all Childcare Regulations and be comfortable discussing any issues with staff or management when these childcare regulations are not followed.
-Maintaining all training necessary for the position (Renewals, Trainings, and Checks)
Educational/ Training Qualifications:
- Valid AECENL certification in Early Childhood Education (Level 1, 2 or 3) (Entry Level/ Trainees may apply - Wage Grid salary will be implemented 18.06-18.79/hour)
-First Aid Training
- Valid RNC Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
Other Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Organizational skills to effectively manage classroom activities and materials
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
